Taser C2
There's a lot to say about Taser's civilian-marketed C2, a stripped-down, $350 version of the unit carried by some 10,000 law enforcement agencies around the country. It fires a pair of probes into a target, presumably someone who's attacking you, from up to 15 ft. away. If the probes get within two inches of your skin (they don't have to penetrate skin, but they can, as I found out), they complete a circuit and deliver 30 seconds of muscle-clenching incapacitation. The C2 fires once per cartridge, so Taser recommends putting it down and running like hell while your target twitches away. That's $350 down the tube, but if you have a genuine reason for using it, that's a bargain. And if you convince Taser that the unit was fired in self-defense, they'll send you a free replacement. There’s much more—the unit sends out a spray of ID tags with each shot and a aims with a laser sight—but that’s not why you're here. You’re here to see someone get hit with a Taser, and that someone is me. As you'd expect, it's a very jarring experience to be hit with this thing, even for a couple of seconds. What’s worse? As you’ll see, it’s completely embarrassing. —Erik Sofge
21. RE: Taser C2 Personal Protector Shocks Editor (with VIDEO) "For real self-defense--when one is in legitimate fear for one's life--a firearm is far more effective." ..... And far more permanent. Your choice of weapons is determined by your respect for life in general.
20. RE: Taser C2 Personal Protector Shocks Editor (with VIDEO) I work in a hospital, and although I've taken our training for combative patients, I'm going to suggest this to my supervisor to have on hand for our ER. Sometimes we have "96 hour holds" on patients, that are a danger to themselves, and they don't want to be in our ER while they're being evaluated. Our security guards cannot carry firearms, and maybe we could use these new Tasers as a last resort to help contain the situation and protect ourselves, as well as other patients and nursing staff. Food for thought.
19. Taser C2 Personal Protector Shocks Editor (with VIDEO) I have also taken the 5 second "ride" for training and won't make that mistake twice. As a Deputy Sheriff, I encourage law abiding citizens to take responsibility for their personal safety and not be so dependent on others. Being lucky enough to have an LEO come along right when you are being assaulted is not likely. Stay Safe!
18. RE: Taser C2 Personal Protector Shocks Editor (with VIDEO) Website: yours this is a great item for ccw permit holders in places that prohibit firearms
17. RE: Taser C2 Personal Protector Shocks Editor (with VIDEO) Website: that was a funny demonstration but i was well observent that the taser shocking would be pretty funny
16. RE: Taser C2 Personal Protector Shocks Editor (with VIDEO) As a trained volunteer LEO assist and support member, I firmly believe anything that will allow a civilian to protect himself without the liability of deadly force is a plus!
15. RE: Taser C2 Personal Protector Shocks Editor (with VIDEO) In response to #12, keep in mind that not everyone is comfortable with guns. I have a CHL, but guns scare my wife. She would never be comfortable with one, or the idea of killing someone. This is a product she can be comfortable using and provides real protection, allowing her to escape to safety. Taser has proven itself very effective, and I will feel far safer knowing my wife has it when I'm not around. I'm preordering one for her this week.
14. RE: Taser C2 Personal Protector Shocks Editor (with VIDEO) thats was one of the funnyest things i have ever seen!
13. RE: Taser C2 Personal Protector Shocks Editor (with VIDEO) Website: Hi there "full time deputy". I guess it's meaningless to inform you that that Air Taser has been available to the "public" since 1994. Could you please give me an instance where a LEO has been had a Taser used against them? I'd be really intersted to know. After all, all this "enormous potential" has been around for years. Surely you can justify your statement with factual history.
12. RE: Taser C2 Personal Protector Shocks Editor (with VIDEO) I don't really understand what the market is for these critters. For real self-defense--when one is in legitimate fear for one's life--a firearm is far more effective. Beyond that, most of us don't have a need to engage and subdue a criminal who isn't posing an immediate lethal threat. Less-lethal weapons are a lovely idea, but the technology just isn't there yet.
11. RE: Taser C2 Personal Protector Shocks Editor (with VIDEO) Great article and video. Thanks
10. RE: Taser C2 Personal Protector Shocks Editor (with VIDEO) They are requiring a background check prior to selling them. Unlike guns. At $350 a shot they are a little more expensive then bullets.
9. RE: Taser C2 Personal Protector Shocks Editor (with VIDEO) To Nr 2. Yes, I think all Deputy Sheriffs out there would agree that they would much rather an attacker use a gun on them than the dastardly Taser C2. After all, it is a proven fact that LEO's are nearly always attacked and killed by law-abiding citizens, not criminals as one might suspect. Or so Police Officers keep telling us.
8. RE: Taser C2 Personal Protector Shocks Editor (with VIDEO) if "joe public" shot a law enforcement officer with one of these, in my opinion (as a former deputy sheriff) deadly force would be justified if the officer was able to do so before being shot, or if another officer saw this taking place, *he* would be justified using deadly force on the taser dude.
7. RE: Taser C2 Personal Protector Shocks Editor (with VIDEO) Oh Great! So now we have cops who want to keep this non-lethal self defense only for leo use. Guess I'll have to stick to concealed carry and just kill an attacker!! And someone please remind the deputy that lethal force can also be used against leo's.
6. RE: Taser C2 Personal Protector Shocks Editor (with VIDEO) funny
5. RE: Taser C2 Personal Protector Shocks Editor (with VIDEO) Deputy Sheriff: Don't worry, I'm sure your fellow officers will have no trouble blowing away the poor civilian shmuck holding one of these while defending his castle during a wrong address no-knock raid.
4. RE: Taser C2 Personal Protector Shocks Editor (with VIDEO) Great, now I want one more for the entertainment value than the security. Thanks guys.

2. RE: Taser C2 Personal Protector Shocks Editor (with VIDEO) i am a full time deputy sheriff assigned as a patrol supervisor. i am extremely upset that taser has seen fit to try and generate additional income by allowing the public to purchase this item. i have seen this items used numerous times and the potential for law enforcement to have this used against them is enormous.
1. RE: Taser C2 Personal Protector Shocks Editor (with VIDEO) Great video, amazing what the taser is capable of!!! I have taken a 5 second "ride" for training. It will humble you real quick!!
